Aging in Place Design: Enjoy Staying at Home

More and more, seniors are choosing to age in place in their current homes instead of moving to Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) or other types of senior living centers, and there are a number of products and features that allow people of any age to enjoy their homes in comfort. No matter your age, living in a safe environment that’s accessible to everyone is even more important as our life expectancy increases.

I am not only an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers, but also a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS). I love the idea of helping people stay in their home longer, and I have the knowledge and expertise to do just that. As the National Association of Home Builders says:

“To age-in-place, you will probably need to modify your house as you mature to increase access and safety. Modifications may range from the installation of bathroom grab bars and adjusting countertop height to the creation of first floor bedrooms and the installation of private elevators.”
