Back To School Inspiration: Chalkboard Paint
Back to school, three simple words that when spoken can easily incite apprehension into most school-age children. As local New Orleans schools head into week two of school, we thought we celebrate Back To School in style. The chalkboard, a classroom staple, has inspired our latest post.
Take a look at how chalkboard paint has become just as popular in the home as it is in the school.
Use it in the kitchen as a great place to store your favorite recipes.
Or the number of your favorite take out restaurant.
We love how this kitchen counter was turned into an inspiration board.
Great for playrooms and children’s rooms, chalkboard paint allows your young ones to express themselves the best way they know how, through art.
As you can see just about any surface wall in the home can be painted with chalkboard paint.
Want to create your own chalkboard paint in custom colors? It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3. Well not that easy, but here are the simple steps to achieving this look in your home.
1. Add 2 tablespoons of non-sanded tile grout, for each cup of paint, into a flat-finish latex paint in the color of your choice.
2. Stir the mixture well to break up any clumps.
3. It is recommended that you apply the chalkboard paint with a roller or sponge paintbrush.
4. Once dry you’ll need to smooth out with 150-grit sandpaper.
