Susan Currie, ASID Allied, CAPS
Susan Currie believes the details are what bring a home together. With decades of experience and a personal approach to each project, she carefully considers every decision, from the overall design to the finishing touches. With a studio at ADAC in Atlanta, Susan designs homes throughout Buckhead and the Southeast, treating each project as its own.
Color has always been one of Susan’s passions. She brings it into her work through textiles, wallpaper, art, and accessories, using color to add personality, interest, and depth to each space. She knows when to add color and when to hold back, bringing warmth and interest to each room without overwhelming the architecture.
Susan’s style blends creativity, professionalism, and candor when working with her clients. She takes the time to understand her clients’ lifestyles and priorities, then helps them work through the decisions along the way. She stays involved throughout the process, guiding each stage through installation and the final details.
A longtime member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), Susan served as President of the ASID Georgia Chapter during its 50th anniversary year. She is also one of nineteen Certified Aging-in-Place Specialists (CAPS) in Atlanta, bringing additional knowledge of how design decisions can help a home remain comfortable, functional, and beautiful as needs change over time. Susan’s path to interior design has taken a few turns. After earning her bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University, she began her career in television news and later worked in nonprofit fundraising. Her longtime interest in interiors eventually brought her back to school, where she earned a degree in interior design from Delgado Community College in New Orleans before establishing Susan Currie Design.
Her appreciation for beautiful homes began early, growing up in Mississippi and visiting the beautifully appointed homes of family and friends, often sitting at her grandmother’s kitchen table after she prepared a home-cooked meal. Today, she finds inspiration in travel, art, gardens, and the places she has called home.
Her years in New Orleans continue to influence her work through the city’s architecture, interiors, culture, food, and people. In Atlanta, she developed an even greater appreciation for classical architecture and historic homes while establishing her studio at ADAC, at the heart of the Southeast’s design community.
That mix of influences shows throughout Susan’s work, in her respect for architecture and craftsmanship and her love of color and pattern. She creates rooms that feel connected to the home while giving each space its own character.
Susan’s attention to detail gives clients confidence in the process, while her warmth, creativity, and collaborative approach have led many to work with her again on future homes. When she isn’t in her studio, Susan and her dog, Nellie Louise, can usually be found enjoying high-rise living in Atlanta. With Susan Currie Design, the goal is a home that feels just as good to live in as it does to look at, with details that feel personal, considered, and distinctly yours.

PRINCIPAL INTERIOR DESIGNER
Growing up in Mississippi, Susan’s earliest recollections were of visiting the many fine homes of relatives and family friends. These experiences shaped her deep appreciation for the past and her understanding of how gracious environments make people feel. While Susan’s approach to design remains heavily influenced by historic precedents, her interiors are never bound by tradition. This philosophy has positioned her as one of the sought-after interior designers in Buckhead and beyond.
Susan is drawn to color and texture, using them in concert to craft spaces that are fresh and inviting. She has an eye for detail and an ability to unite many elements within a room, creating subtle harmony and balance throughout. Susan believes that people must not only live beautifully but also live well in their homes, so comforts and conveniences underpin every project from the outset.
Today, she and her canine cohort Mika spend much of their time enjoying life in one of Atlanta’s high-rise condos while spending their days creating spaces at the Atlanta office. With Susan’s history of living in New Orleans and Atlanta, she draws inspiration from each city’s rich history and architecture for their interior design projects. They are excited to continue creating beautiful interiors as one of the leading interior designers at ADAC Atlanta.
