Academy Awards 2013 Colors and Textures

The recent Academy Awards awards ceremony had many of the latest trends on display. Exciting color and textures energized the red carpet. Here are some of my favorites.

• White. Sparkly white was very much in vogue. Some may say the white was a bit unseasonal or a bit bridal…but creativity and movies have always gone hand-in-hand!  The Boston Globe praised the color choice and assembled the photo montage below.

• Deep, rich blues. Reese Witherspoon looked stunning (as always) in a navy and black gown by Louis Vuitton. Navy was also seen on the talented young Quvenzhané Wallis, who accessorized the dress with one of her collection of puppy purses.

 

 

• Dressmaker details. Jennifer Garner sported a Gucci with sleek, modern flounces in the back. Many stars wore dresses with precious details that were almost fairy-tale like. Olivia Munn‘s dress was so beautiful and classic, it seemed as though it were from a period film.

 

 

Home fashion generally follows fashion, so I think Oscar looks will enter more and more homes this season!
