Emerald is Pantone’s Color of 2013

Each year, color specialists and designers eagerly await Pantone’s Color of the Year announcement. Pantone, a leading color marketing institute, has determined through market research that Emerald will sparkle in 2013. I am so excited to see more of this radiant, luminous green.

Emerald is a rich color that makes an impact when it stands alone. But it also harmonizes surprisingly well with many cool and warm hues. We are sure to see this color in both fashion and home fashion in 2013.

 

The head of the Pantone Color Marketing Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, told Editor at Large:

“Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum…As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world.”

 

Colors, like emeralds, change according to the light and what they are juxtaposed with. Like Pantone’s previous color of the year, Tangerine Tango, Emerald stands well on its own or in a variety of settings.
